‘SOMETHING OF ME’ – CECIL BEATON PORTRAITS
Cecil Beaton enjoyed being the sitter for portraits by his circle of artist friends as much as he enjoyed photographing them. Through an intimate study of portraits of Beaton – including those by Don Bachardy, David Hockney, Patrick Procktor and Pavel Tchelitchew – together with his own photographic self portraits and references from his diaries, fashion historian Dr Benjamin Wild considers Beaton’s self-perception and examines the changing perspectives of the legendary photographer and designer.
At the Ondaatje Wing Theatre, National Portrait Gallery, Thursday 20th November. Seats for the lunchtime lecture are free and allocated on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.
